I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals and couples who want real, lasting change—not just temporary relief.
Many people come to therapy feeling stuck. Over time, Patterns repeat, emotions feel difficult to manage, relationships become strained, and despite effort, things don’t seem to improve. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my work focuses on helping you understand what is happening, why it is happening, and most importantly, how to change it in a clear and practical way.
Therapy is not just about talking—it is about learning, practicing, and making meaningful changes that lead to greater stability, clarity, and freedom.
As a husband and a father of six children, and an ordained permanent deacon in the Catholic Church, I believe spirituality overlays everything. At the same time, I pride myself in meeting my clients “where they are” and developing a trusting relationship which allows for a comfortable setting to dig deeper in discussing issues, events, experiences, and memories for the purpose of creating positive change and living life more fully.
A Practical and Collaborative Approach to Marriage and Family Therapy
Over the years I have worked with the marginalized, individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, and grief, as well as couples experiencing difficulties in their relationships. I have a heart for those who are in pain and seeking relief from emotional suffering while striving to live life more fully. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, facing a significant loss, or struggling in your relationships, I am committed to helping you better understand yourself and your experiences while developing practical tools for meaningful and lasting change.
I will work with you in a collaborative effort to address the problems and challenges you may be experiencing, recognizing that lasting change requires active participation in the therapeutic process, honesty, and a willingness to examine and change thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
As an ordained permanent deacon in the Diocese of San Diego, I became keenly aware of the need for therapists coming from a spiritual background and I earned my Master’s degree in psychology specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. Leading up to my psychology degree, as a deacon, I have had experience working with families and couples struggling in their relationships, families of sick children, those on hospice and family members struggling with loss of a loved one, those in jail, and those who suffer from addiction and homelessness. I have had the opportunity to become Certified as a Domestic Violence Counselor, and enjoy teaching workshops on relationship skills. I am passionate about learning better ways to interact in relationships and bring that into my therapeutic approach.
Why “This Is The Day Therapy”?
I chose to name this therapeutic endeavor “This is the Day Therapy” based on Psalm 118:24 … “This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice in it and be glad.” because I truly believe, from the depth of my heart, that every day can be a great day, even in the midst of pain, suffering, and turmoil. This is the day to make a change!
